Dalam Bahasa Indonesia, kita sering menggunakan Metaphor seperti, “Kamu kalau marah, persis kayak singa lagi marah”. Kalimat inilah yang disebut dengan Metaphor. Kalau Simile, ungkapan ini menjadi “Kamu kalau marah persis seperti marahnya singa”.
Dalam Bahasa Inggris, contoh-contoh metaphor adalah sebagai berikut:
