Metaphor

Metaphor adalah kata-kata yang digunakan untuk mengkiaskan seseorang atau sesuatu dengan yang lainnya. Hal ini hampir sama dengan Simile. Bedanya adalah pada Metaphor, kita tidak lagi menggunakan kata “like” atau “as”. Walaupun perbandingan yang dibuat atau dikiaskan tidaklah begitu persis, namun penggunaan Methapor masih saja sering digunakan.

Dalam Bahasa Indonesia, kita sering menggunakan Metaphor seperti, “Kamu kalau marah, persis kayak singa lagi marah”. Kalimat inilah yang disebut dengan Metaphor. Kalau Simile, ungkapan ini menjadi “Kamu kalau marah persis seperti marahnya singa”.

Dalam Bahasa Inggris, contoh-contoh metaphor adalah sebagai berikut:
